Amanda Brugel

Pointe Claire (February 27, 2010 - Toronto ON). Pointe Claire is an unassuming community situated on the West Island, which is part of the Montreal island. The West Island, to those who have never heard of it, is a huge section that extends from Lachine until the west. Amanda Brugel was born there and her time within the city was brief. Brugel grew up in Courtice near Oshawa Ontario. She was determined to become professional, however due to her rapid expansion, she outgrew every one of her dancing friends. In an article published in The Toronto Star she admitted In heels I'm 6 feet 1 inch. After I reached the point of outgrowing male dance partners, I stopped. Many former dancers turn to acting and in the case of Brugel it was a suggestion from a high school drama teacher who encouraged her to go towards the right path. It was the teacher who recommended she take on a part in the annual school production. A teacher suggested that she take on a part in the school's annual production. This led to a Fine Arts Talent Scholarship at York University where she attended the Theater Program and graduated with A Bachelor in Fine Arts degree in the year 2000. Since then, for the more than 20 years since Brugel has been offered roles in more than 60 productions across the big and small screens receiving the greatest attention when she landed the role of Rita in the award-winning television series The Handmaid's Tale (pictured below). Brugel was the sole Canadian in the Season 1 Cast of the show and seen only occasionally, was the only Canadian.
